OUR MISSION



Next Step Broadway’s mission is to provide an environment where all ages and levels can experience the joy of expression through dancing, singing, acting & much more.

We feel that by instilling these crafts in a positive, joyful way students will make it a part of their lives creating connection with the whole self- mind, body, and soul.

Instructors will introduce knowledge of technical, musical, creative, and performance skills, and will develop these skills for all levels. This developmental program builds confidence, self-esteem and coordination to create a well-rounded whole artist.
Meet Our Staff

Miss Amy - Director and Owner

Amy Emmett's love of dance and the arts began as a young child learning in her mother's studio. The minute she was old enough to assist and teach Amy was helping her mom with classes and choreography. To further her expertise, she attended Oklahoma City University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Performing Arts. Before graduation, she had already secured her first professional job performing as a Follies Girl in Crazy For You at North Shore Music Theatre. During this time Amy auditioned for the World Famous Radio City Rockettes and became part of a living legend for 11 straight years. 

Amy's experience and passion for the arts have led her to follow in her mother's footsteps and create a dance and performing art's school. Her developmental program builds confidence, self-esteem, & coordination to create a well-rounded whole artist. Amy and her staff will provide professional quality instruction in a supportive environment to all levels, from recreational to professional.
Miss Erica - Front Desk Receptionist, Triple Threats Manager, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop
Miss Erica started dancing at age 2 and spent the majority of her time training at Piazza Dance Company in Northville, MI and Dawn Meyer School of Dance in Cincinnati, OH. She spent 10 years on competitive dance teams. She double majored in Music Theatre and Dance at Oakland University. Miss Erica also spent 10 years working in the music and concert industry as a stage manager and concert promoter. Since then, Erica has spent her free time performing with her local community theatre company, The Detroit Actors Theatre Company. She has played such roles as The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jaqueline in La Cage Aux Follies, Bombur in the Hobbit, Rizzo in Grease, Rosie in Mama Mia, Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast and as a soloist in various Follies shows. Erica loves to choreograph and sing in her free time. She is very excited to be working in the dance world again. She can't wait to get to know all of you and share her love of dance with everybody at Next Step Broadway.
Miss Heidi - Triple Threat Coach, Hip Hop, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz, Acro
Heidi A. Williams has over 10 years of professional experience as a dance instructor, educator, coach, and choreographer. In addition to her training in the dance dept. at WMU, she has received instruction from many of the industry’s top choreographers/teachers such as NappyTabs, Luthor Brown, Laura Edwards, Kevin Maher, Bgirl Bonita, Gregg Russell, Geo Hubela, Luam, Matt Steffanina and many more. She continues to train in L.A. several times a year. She has helped choreograph and perform in pieces that were performed at Motor City Movement, and at Berlin Music Festival, opening for acts such as Jake Miller, SoMo, Far East Movement, and Mike Posner. You can see her in Flo Rida’s latest promo video for My House alongside some of Detroit's best dancers. You can also see her dancing for the Rul9 (formerly Chachi Mamma) apparel commercial video shoot. Her choreography has been awarded frequently on both regional and national levels, often winning national titles. In addition to being nominated for Best Choreography, several of her pieces were chosen to be performed at Disney in Orlando, Florida.
Miss Beth - Ballet, Jazz, Combo, Triple Threat Choreographer
Beth Stolzenfeld has been dancing since the age of 3. She trained at Deborah's Stage Door Center for the Performing Arts and later Juliana's Academy of Dance. She continued her education beyond the competition stage and graduated in 2010 with her B.F.A. in Dance from Wayne State University. She has worked for ABT summer intensives and in 2008, she performed on the Detroit Opera House stage in "La Traviata." She has performed professionally as a 2 year member of DDC (formerly Detroit Dance Collective) as well as guest performed with Mack Avenue Dance Company and Eisenhower Dance Ensemble. She is currently a member of More Dances Contemporary Dance Company. Beth has been teaching for the past 8 years and hopes to extend her knowledge of technique and love of dance to the students of Next Step Broadway.
Miss Kristina - Voice, Acting, Musical Theatre Production
Kristina Riegle brings over 15 years of professional performing experience, and is still actively performing. Recent engagements include making company debuts with St. Petersburg Opera as Dinah Murphy and Nellie Forbush u/s in SOUTH PACIFIC and with Resonance Works Pittsburgh as Dorothée in CENDRILLON. Other notable credits include Mark Adamo’s LITTLE WOMEN (Jo March), LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Cherubino), A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Desirée Armfeldt), CARMEN (Mércèdes), WEST SIDE STORY (Consuelo), RAGTIME (Kathleen/Emma Goldman (u/s)), MY FAIR LADY (Servant/Ensemble), CHILDREN OF EDEN (Storyteller) and ENCHANTED APRIL (Francesca). Miss Kristina has performed with The Kennedy Center, Washington National Opera, Opera Providence, Fiddlehead Theatre Company, Boston Opera Collaborative, Reagle Music Theatre, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, National Broadway Chorus, and Opera Boston. She holds a M.M. degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory, and B.A. degrees in Music and Biology and an Artist Certificate in Vocal Performance from the College of Charleston. In September 2016, she relocated from Washington DC to the Detroit Metro area, and am an Adjunct Professor in the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State University. She can't wait to start the Musical Theatre Production, Voice and Acting Programs at Next Step Broadway.
Miss Mary - Studio Manager, Hip Hop, Breakin', Jazz

Miss Mary loves dance and performance.  She has over 10 years experience in choreographing for show choirs and musicals such as "Fame" and "Little Shop of Horrors".  She trained in Hip Hop, Jazz, and Ballet at Dance Expressions in Eastpointe, MI; then Jazz at Oakland University. 


In 2002, Mary became a member of Hardcore Detroit dance crew, (which she considers her family) and performs with them throughout Michigan.  In addition, she competes nationally and has won several competitions and awards such as 'Best Female Dancer' and '#1 B-Girl'.  Mary loves to share her knowledge by teaching breakin’ and Hip Hop culture.  She wants to instruct, instill, and inspire her students through her love of dance.  In addition, Miss Mary also earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2008 at the University of Phoenix.  She is awesomely excited to be part of the Next Step Broadway faculty!
Miss Kasi - Triple Threat Coach, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Combo
Kasi Seguin graduated from Wayne State University in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Dance and a Minor in Spanish. She has been very active in helping artistic director, Joori Jung, with the development of artLab J and the Detroit Dance City Festival since its beginning in August of 2012. During the summer of 2013, she danced in the French impressionist short Ballet Film “Gynopedie: Unlock the Beauty” directed by David Benoit-Mohan. Originally from the state of Michigan, she made her way back and has been a Detroit resident for the last five years. She spent several years in Mexico and San Francisco dedicating most of her time studying various dance forms of dance such as Ballet, Modern, Afro Brazilian, Afro Haitian, and performing with local groups and companies. She spent two years teaching dance at Letha Fulton School of Dance in Ludington, Michigan before moving to Detroit and entering the Wayne State University Department of Dance. In 2009, Kasi travel to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil to perform Carnaval with artistic director of San Francisco-based Afro-Brazilian dance company “Aguas da Bahia.” Also in 2009, she finished the teacher training program at Power Pilates and is certified to teach Pilates mat classes.
Miss Kerry - Ballet, Jazz, Combo, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Storybook Ballet
Miss Kerry has over 25 years of dance experience and over 20 years of dance teaching experience.She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Miss Kerry studied dance at Tecumseh Dance Workshop, Dancin' Inc. (where she went on to be the Director of Dancin' Ballet Company), Rochester School of Dance, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble and throughout the Mid-West with American College Dance Festival,Dupree & Dance Olympus as well as studying in New York with world-renowned dance educators and choreographers. Miss Kerry began apprentice teaching before high school graduation and went on to study dance at Oakland University. She continues to stretch herself creatively by continuing her dance education and choreographing all types of dance for studio and musical productions! The former owner of Kerry's Dance Stages and Oakland Regional Ballet, she has a passion and joy for dance that she loves to share with all her students.
Miss Amanda - Front Desk Receptionist, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Combo

Amanda has eighteen years of dance training in tap, jazz, ballet and lyrical, of which thirteen were at the competitive level. Amanda has performed with and choreographed for the Detroit Tap Repertory Company. She has also performed at the Variety Fundraiser, Hob Nobble Gobble, and more. Amanda also has been trained in Musical Theatre and has performed in various shows such as 42nd Street (Lorraine), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Mrs. Gloop), Once Upon A Mattress (Pantamime Queen), etc. 

Miss Arina - Storybook Ballet, Combo
Arina Popova comes to Next Step Broadway with a Masters degree in education and extensive ballet training at the Moscow Dance Centre, which she attended on full scholarship. She has more than 13 years of teaching and choreographing experience. She's taught dancers of all ages, from 3 - 18 and has experience teaching dance to children with disabilities. Arina has choreographed group and solo ballet numbers for festivals, recitals and competitions and is the proud teacher of Miss Dance 2009!
Miss Amy - Ballroom
Amy Tranchida brings 30 years of experience, a diverse dance background and a great sense of humor to her classes. Amy teaches 12 Ballroom and Latin dance styles - specializing in Salsa and Argentine Tango. She trained for 16 years in ballet, tap and jazz dance. In addition, she was a member of the Romeo Civic Ballet Company for 6 years, and an instructor at the Romeo Civic Dance Center for 6 years. Amy also studied and instructed African dance at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona. Additionally, she has taught Hatha Yoga for the past 19 years and is a member of the Yoga Association of Greater Detroit. She holds her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Goddard College, her BA in Creative Writing from Prescott College. Amy offers both private and group lessons as well as various dance and writing workshops in the Metro Detroit area. She celebrates moments of discovery, explores the globe every chance she gets and writes about what connects us all: LOVE! Amy is thrilled to be associated with Next Step Broadway.
